I carry no cash

In today’s world, it seems like everything is paid with a swipe of plastic. To an extent, that’s okay. I swipe my share of plastic, but I just like the “points” I get which leads to checks in the mail :) I’m lucky enough to say that I don’t have credit card debt but that also means I don’t have the newest clothes in my closet, or furniture for that matter. I love the way I live my life and when I can retire at 55 years old, I’ll love it even more. If credit cards didn’t offer “points” on gas and groceries I may think twice about having a credit card, but then I would have to carry cash :\

If I ever carry cash, it’s less than $10. The only time I really need it is to pay in a parking garage (although I think you can use credit cards there now too) or to pay the cover charge at a bar. And I NEVER go to bars so that doesn’t even count. Actually, I can’t even think of anything else you MUST pay in cash. If you don’t have cash, you can get out of giving that “homeless” guy you saw get out of his car any money when he supplies you with a story about being down on his luck. (Although, I will give someone some cash if they have a good sign like “Family kidnapped by ninjas! Need money for karate lessons” or “Boogieman ate my family! Spare any change for a new closet door?”)

Also, people are quick to judge when they see you use a credit card. They assume you’re up to your eyeballs in debt. How do you know they’re not swiping a debit card and using money in their bank account? Stop judging! I’m guilty of using a credit card for a $0.75 pack of gum at the airport, or one $0.42 stamp in a pinch. Then you feel like a fool and to make it worse, you bet I’m grabbing that receipt because if I don’t, I’ll forget all about my minuscule purchase and rack my brain when I realize my balance is off.

What do you use cash for?

I also use mostly a credit card. I am saving up the points for a big vacation right now. Then, we can do the things we want to do without spending a ton of cash.

I don't every carry cash either. I work in a place that has a cafeteria and they only take cash. Which is a good thing because I don't have to eat their food! It def. has it's pros and cons about not carrying cash! I use a debit card, never had an actual credit card! Too scared! lol
