Bad lyrics

I love music. Really, I do. But there are some songs that no matter who sings them, I cannot enjoy. If the days of the week, spelling or math are involved, I despise it. I feel like I lost some brain cells for listening to songs like this. I don’t need you to spell things out or tell me things I learned in elementary school. Have you no real writing skills? What a cop-out way to write music. The worst part is many people like the songs. Here are several examples in case you live under a rock and have never heard such a song. Actually, that would be better.

Mandy Moore – I could break your heart any day of the week

I could break your heart any day of the week.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
I’ll make you nervous.
Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
Do not you disturb us.
Sunday rolls around- but that’s another story.
It gets a little boring.

Rebecca Black – Friday It’s Friday, Friday

Gotta get down on Friday
Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend, weekend
Friday, Friday
Gettin’ down on Friday
Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend

Allison Iraheta – Friday I’ll be over you

Monday, Tuesday we were cool
Wednesday I found out 'bout you
Caught my heart by tellin' lies
You weren't what you advertised
'Cause you got me to forget me
Oh, you know that's true
Yeah, you got me to forget me
So Friday I'll be over you

Fergie – FergaliciousI'm the F to the E, R, G the I the E
And can't no other lady put it down like me
T to the A to the S T E Y girl you tasty, T to the A to the S T E Y girl you tasty
D to the E to the L I C I O U S, to the D to the E to the, to the, to the, hit it Fergie

Ashlee Simpson – L.O.V.E.

Oh did you hear me say?
Oh did you hear me say?
I'm talking bout

Allison Iraheta – D is for Dangerous

A is for all I want
B is for battling
C is for can't stay longer
'Cause I want you so madly

E is for no escape
'Cause I don't wanna leave you
F is for falling
Fast with no parachute

G for get outta here
It's really too much
H is for how do I leave
When I'm addicted to you?

I is for insane
It smells like danger
J is for jump off the ship
Or the storm will take you

K is for killing me
L is for I can't leave
Oh, 'cause I'll never make it
If I'm not living on the edge
(Apparently she doesn’t know the rest of the alphabet. Why stop at this point?)

The only song that gets a pass is Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl” because, let’s face it, we all needed to learn how to spell B-A-N-A-N-A-S. Admit it. When you spell it, you think of that song.

Kelly Clarkson – Dumb plus dumb equals you

Simple math
Our love divided by the square root of pride
Multiply your lifeless time
I'm going out of my mind
It was heaven when I finally figured it out alone
Dumb plus dumb equals you

I don't know much about algebra, but I know one plus one equals two
Beyonce – 1+1

2gether – You + Me = Us

I know my calculus
It says U + Me = Us
We're 2Gether
Girl, algebra or trigonometry
Could never equal up to what you do to me
So let's integrate
Don't differentiate
If you were in my class
There ain't no way I could pass
I hate English, Gym,
And not to mention
I can't even afford to pay my attention
No philosophy could ever come between us
But we'll always have our calculus

The making of a Christmas list

Like I mentioned yesterday, I have already started my Christmas list. My husband is hoping I don't come up with anything else to add because I'm already over our agreed upon price point. I said "I put lots of stuff so you had options of what you wanted to get me, that way I don't know which ones I'll end up getting"... Translation: "Don't you think I deserve it ALL honey?" The answer is no.

Then he said he doesn't want much this year so I said "Then can you spend your remaining money on me?" The answer is still no, but this time I get the stink-eye too. He says he'll spend his remaining amount on the cats. Those jerks.

Every year when I start making Christmas lists I can never think of a single thing I want. Hard to believe, I know. I normally wait until December when the in-laws start sending friendly reminder texts that they have no idea what to get me. They go something like this: "Brandon's shopping is finished, but I never got your list." Sorry, I suck. This year I refuse to procrastinate.

Here are a few things on my list:

What are you wishing for this Christmas? :]

It's Ok Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays

It's Ok...

To hate lotion of any kind with a passion

To block everyone out at work and listen to your iPod

To talk to your pets like children

To spend hours researching old insane asylums (what, is that weird?)

To only blog when you feel like it

To not participate in potlucks at work because you're cheap or grossed out by the possibility of someone elses per hair in their dish

To make a Christmas list before Halloween

To then get too excited about said list and buy those items right away

To hate passing out candy for Trick or Treat, but do it anyway

To never dry-clean your winter coat (Febreze works fine, don't judge) It's not like you sweat in the winter in it, geesh

To not own a pair of Ugg boots

To wish you dressed better, but refuse to spend the money to do so

I carry no cash

In today’s world, it seems like everything is paid with a swipe of plastic. To an extent, that’s okay. I swipe my share of plastic, but I just like the “points” I get which leads to checks in the mail :) I’m lucky enough to say that I don’t have credit card debt but that also means I don’t have the newest clothes in my closet, or furniture for that matter. I love the way I live my life and when I can retire at 55 years old, I’ll love it even more. If credit cards didn’t offer “points” on gas and groceries I may think twice about having a credit card, but then I would have to carry cash :\

If I ever carry cash, it’s less than $10. The only time I really need it is to pay in a parking garage (although I think you can use credit cards there now too) or to pay the cover charge at a bar. And I NEVER go to bars so that doesn’t even count. Actually, I can’t even think of anything else you MUST pay in cash. If you don’t have cash, you can get out of giving that “homeless” guy you saw get out of his car any money when he supplies you with a story about being down on his luck. (Although, I will give someone some cash if they have a good sign like “Family kidnapped by ninjas! Need money for karate lessons” or “Boogieman ate my family! Spare any change for a new closet door?”)

Also, people are quick to judge when they see you use a credit card. They assume you’re up to your eyeballs in debt. How do you know they’re not swiping a debit card and using money in their bank account? Stop judging! I’m guilty of using a credit card for a $0.75 pack of gum at the airport, or one $0.42 stamp in a pinch. Then you feel like a fool and to make it worse, you bet I’m grabbing that receipt because if I don’t, I’ll forget all about my minuscule purchase and rack my brain when I realize my balance is off.

What do you use cash for?

It's OK Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays
I must admit that several things got on my nerves this week, but I'm ready to let them go because they're not worth being pissed about. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself.
It's OK...
To not want to hear ONE MORE SINGLE THING about the exotic animals killed near my hometown. We all heard the news, saw the Facebook posts and pictures and now let's move on. It's sad and tragic and you can blame whoever you want, but at the end of the day I support Jack Hanna and the sheriff's decision to put them down to protect the community. In a perfect world, the guy wouldn't have set them free then killed himself, but he did. Period.

To be angry about not being able to wear my contacts for ANOTHER 3-4 more weeks because of my "inflamed cornea", which the doctor can't figure out how I got in the first place. These glasses will be the death of me. I don't have prescription sunglasses either, so that's fun. Not.

To get blown off by someone I was VERY excited about meeting up with. Not even a phone call or email saying "I can't meet after all"... just nothing. Left me hanging & confused. Still haven't heard back actually.

To continue cheering for the Texas Rangers in the World Series, even though the Cardinals won the first game last night. Game 2 is tonight at 8pm. WATCH IT. Cheer for the Rangers.

To be bummed out about the NON-STOP rain lately. I was planning on going to the Circleville Pumpkin Show today. Now it says 70% chance of rain after work.

To go visit my "little" cousin in college this weekend and feel 100 YEARS OLD walking back into a dorm and seeing how young the freshman look.

To get impatient about the items I ordered on Amazon not shipping yet. CA'MON!

Talk and Tinkle

Is it just me or are more and more people using the restroom as their personal phone booth?! Bunch of weirdos if you ask me.

At work, at the mall, in the doctor's office... really, people? Isn't that at all strange to you? I don't care if you're standing by the sink or in one of the stalls talking on the phone, it's weird. And gross. I don't want your dad or grandma listening to me pee, nor would I want to be on the other end of the call when I hear the toilet flush and wonder "are you talking to me while using the facilities?!".

At work the other day a lady was talking on the phone complaining when someones automatic toilet would flush because she couldn't hear the person on the phone. YOU'RE IN THE RESTROOM! I should have stuck around and flushed the toilet next to her a couple extra times just to make her angry. But my luck, she would just think I was having bowel issues and then who'd be embarrassed? So I got out of there as soon as my hands hit the paper towels.

If you're one of these people, please enlighten me on why you do this! Although, I'll probably still judge you and think you're disgusting. I cannot lie.

It's Ok Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays

It's OK... get angry when people use fonts you can't read on their blogs strongly detest stainless steel appliances like acoustic music better that the over produced CD version of the song get REALLY pissed when people cancel plans with you be pissed about said cancelled plans several days later (my biggest pet peeve) make to-do lists and include things you've already done that day just to cross them off and feel like you've accomplished something already put off reading People magazine until you have a stack of 4 or 5 at a time (stupid weekly magazine subscription, who has time for this) not renew People magazine when it runs out this month not renew Sirius radio because I'm cheap frugal STILL be pissed about cancelled plans (seriously people, it's the worst in my book... I may even dedicate a whole post just to this topic soon, lucky you) follow blogs just because you like their background design or title wonder why I only have 15 followers. I'm brand new to blogging, but everyone likes the pick-me-up of logging in to see you have a new follower realize that statement sounded a little desperate. Laugh. Don't over think it.

"Without Music Life Would Be A Mistake" - Friedrich Nietzsche

Like many people, I listen to music all day, every day and I'm always looking for new stuff. I sit at work with my iPod on typing away but once I've gone through my playlist, I get the "new music" bug and hop on Amazon.
My secret is to put in an singer/band that I already like, then at the bottom Amazon has this wonderful section that says "Customers Who Bought Related Items Also Bought These" and you scroll through similar artists. It's the best thing since sliced bread. My other tool is Pandora Radio. Love it.

Here are some ladies I've been loving...

This first clip is classic. If you don't agree, you probably don't have a sense of humor. It's a little slow in the beginning, but the song makes me laugh. And yes, I sing it around the house and my husband gets a kick out of it.

"Beautiful Day" is amazing. Period. Also, look up "Lovely". You will not be disappointed.

She's English and hilarious. Need I say more? I also love her songs "Merry Happy" and "The Nicest Thing".

This woman can sing acoustic like no body's business. Sadly, I could not find a "good" acoustic clip on YouTube to share so we'll go with the official music video. Other superb songs are "Blue Suitcase" and "It's Not That Easy".

Her personality is as spunky as her red hair. The girl can sing anything. Look up "Near To You" and "Borrowed Time".

So there you have it. These ladies have been on my iPod on repeat and I love them, but if you have any suggestions for new music, I'd like to hear it! Leave a comment and I'll YouTube them right away :]

It's Ok Thursday!

Ah, my favorite day to blog :]  You know the drill!  It's ok...

...To take time to do your hair, knowing it will be in a pony tail by noon... or 9am

...To fill your cart at Target, then put everything back except that one item you went in for in the first place

...To not drink Starbucks like it's going out of business

...To clean the windows in your house once a year, if you remember

...To never wear nail polish because the chipping it too annoying

...To plan dinner with a friend a month in advance

...To love and hate your busy weekends at the same time (hence the dinner plans a month in advance if not more)

...To not win anything in your entire life

...To count down the hours left at work the moment you step foot in the building... or pull in the parking lot some days

...To correct people who say "I seen" or "where you at?" (Really?!)

...To think the girl in the spandex shorts at the gym is trashy

...To look up registered sex offenders in the area before you move

...To de-friend people on Facebook who post VERY personal issues

What are you saying it's ok to today?

I've died and gone to... jail?

Arrested Development is coming back! Is it my birthday?!

If you don't know what it is, you better Google it or we can't be friends anymore. This has to be one of my favorite TV shows ever. But wait! Not only are they bringing back the show, but they're making a movie!! I mean seriously people, is this a dream?

The original series didn't last long (2003-2006) but I blame that on FOX! They didn't advertise it enough so no one knew it existed! Now lots of people have seen it, thanks to Hulu and it's making a come back. Rumor has it that the original cast will stay intact too, which is super important. Can you imagine someone else playing Gob?! Appalling. One of my favorite quotes of the series has to be when Gob is taking about his magic... "Illusions Michael, tricks are something whores do for money!" Best. Show. Ever. Cannot wait for it to start!

When I grow up…

I swore I would never sit in a cubicle and call it my career. I would say “that’s not my personality” and “I could never stare at a computer all day” but here I am. I work in an office building alongside thousands of other people typing away and torturing my eyes with fluorescent lights and computer glare. Sure, I have an ergonomic chair, wrist rests for my keyboard and mouse and a foot rest, but is this living? I stare at two computer screens side-by-side every day and get paid to do it but this is never where I imagined myself years ago.

When the teacher asks you in kindergarten what you want to be when you grow up, you normally spout off whatever it is your parents do and everyone gets a good laugh at the kid in the front row trying to pronounce physicist. But as you get older, you develop hobbies and one day go to college to pursue something you found less boring than health class. Or maybe you get to college and declare yourself “undecided” until your junior year like I did, then scramble to pick something you can finish in the standard 4 year time frame. You walk with pride as you’re handed that degree for “Organizational Communication” with a minor in “Speech Communication” not having any clue what the hell it really means or what you can do with it.

After graduation you look for a job (or in my case, move to Denver temporarily just because you can) and hope you find something, anything that pays for you to live like a civilized human being. The job I currently have isn’t hard, stressful or bad at all really, it’s just not what I thought I would be doing for a career. I work from home 3 days a week and have the weekends off like any other office job but what I really want to do one day is photography.

I have been taking pictures since I was a kid but only recently have I really learned how to use my camera without leaving the settings on automatic. I still have a lot to learn but I’m finally getting the motivation to do what I love. I will not be quitting my full time job in the office, but I would like eventually have a photography job on the side. Now bring on the volunteers so I can build my portfolio! Anyone have a free weekend and looking for a free photo shoot? Remember, I’m a BEGINNER, don’t expect professional stuff just yet people!
