The Cruise

Ok, so I've been a little lazy in blogging since coming back from vacation. Truth is, I got used to doing nothing and when I came back to my job, I had LOTS to do. Talk about a shock to the system.

Brandon and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas and Key West, Florida. This was my second cruise and his first so it was an adventure. My first cruise was my senior year of high school and I hardly remember it. Plus, practically my entire class went so it was a bunch of "stick together with your groups" and "meet back here when we tell you to" garbage. It was fun, but very structured. This time I could pick what I wanted to do every day all on my own like an adult, with my husband's input obviously.

After work on a Friday, we drove down to Charleston, South Carolina and by the time we checked into our hotel it was 3:30am. Yuck. The next morning we took a carriage tour around the city. Again, something I'd done before in that city, but Brandon had not. That afternoon, we got on the ship and relaxed the rest of the week.

Brandon wasn't sold on the idea of a cruise before. He thought he would be bored, or that it would be too weird to be in the middle of the ocean. By the end of the week, he was loving it. He's always the driver when we go on vacations so he enjoyed just sitting back and letting the ship's captain worry about where we were going, and what time we had to be there.

I didn't remember how much you can really feel the ship move so I got a headache often from the swaying but nothing I couldn't get past. However, it made for reading on the deck a no-go for me. I sat and people-watched instead which has to be better than any book anyway.

We went through an entire bottle of SPF 50. Yes, we're those people who come back from vacation and people don't believe you when you say you spent the week in the sun. I like it that way. Pale is the new tan, people. Get with it.

We kayaked and got in the ocean in Freeport, sat on the beach in Nassau, biked around the town in Key West and ate great food all week. Turns out Feb was a great time to go on a cruise because it wasn't blistering hot, and there weren't a million people everywhere. My kind of vacation.

Now the fun part... Pictures! Don't mind the bad hair and shiney sunscreen covered faces. It was windy and we were greasy. Whatever.
